Central South SIB
The Central South Sisters in the Brotherhood is on the Move!
August 2022
On June 24th & 25th, 75 sisters from every state in the council came together for the first ever Central South Sisters in the Brotherhood Conference at the Roosevelt in New Orleans, Louisiana. With the mantra of Stronger Together, the goal was to collaborate, learn, grow, and plan for success.
The action-packed conference consisted of a kick-off reception dinner on Friday night where revelers enjoyed a good laugh with great food in a beautifully appointed banquet room at The Roosevelt.
The next morning, a chartered bus escorted the ladies to the Central South Carpenters Regional Council main office in Metairie, LA for a day of speakers & activities. Our Central South SIB Committee Chair and Southern District Coordinator, Shanta Prude, opened the day and introduced our prestigious guest speakers, including General EST Tom Flynn, Chief of Staff Justin Weidner, Southern District VP Dennis Donahou, and EST Jason Engels along with women who are leaders in their profession such as Laure Chachere who works as the General Manager at Freeman New Orleans, Louisiana Workforce Commissioner Ava Cates, & Candidate for the Louisiana State Senate, Mandie Landry. Discussions included UBC support for women, insurance improvements for women and more!
The Department of Training Program Director, Brent Jenkins, reviewed all the amazing programs available to our sisters at the International Training Center in Las Vegas, NV. Then a good time was had by all for an amazing team-building exercise led by Kim McGaw that consisted of trust, teamwork, and communication-centered activities.
In the months since the conference, the Central South Sisters in the Brotherhood have created organizing committees to tackle goals, as well as attended the International Sisters in the Brotherhood Conference in Las Vegas, NV.
