Texas Instruments and Samsung are investing a combined $55 billion in semiconductor projects in Texas, with applications for funding through the CHIPS & Science Act just now being accepted. The Act is helping to create good-paying union jobs by requiring Davis-Bacon prevailing wage rates for facilities built with CHIPS funding.
Infrastructure Work /June 23, 2023
The Kerr Dam Rehabilitation project has been a crucial development in the infrastructure of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, this project aims to repair tainter gates 11-15 around the river and is estimated to cost $25 million. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is managing the project, which is also being spotlighted on White House state fact sheets for the State of Oklahoma.

Family fun night was held on December 13, 2022. It was a wonderful finish to a great year. Every year during our December meeting, we name one hard working apprentice, The Clark McDonald Apprentice of the Year. The deserving apprentice is awarded a check for all their efforts.

Wage Theft Ordinance PASSES
in Austin, Texas.
On December 1, 2022, the Austin City Council unanimously passed a Wage Theft Prevention Ordinance protecting workers compensation they are owed by law. Wage theft occurs when a worker is not paid what they are owed under the law or agreement made with their employer.

Being one of three success stories asked to present, Ms. Prude spoke about her experience as a member of the Central South Carpenters Regional Council.
